Feeling stuck indoors after last weekend's snow storm?  Here are a few weekend activities for you and your kids to enjoy -- spend some time exploring Long Island!

Weekend Events:

Seal Walk
Where: Montauk Point State Park
When: Saturday and Sunday
Cost: $4 per adult; $3 per child

Walk along the beach where up to four different species of seals can be observed on Long Island.  The walk is approximately three miles long and takes 2-3 hours to complete, so make sure you dress warmly!

Winter Watercolor Workshop
Where: The Center for Science Teaching & Learning
When: Saturday, January 30th
Cost: $14/Child

Bring your kids to The Center for Science Teaching & Learning in Rockville Centre for an afternoon of exploring watercolor.  They will use different materials to create fun art effects and use their own techniques to create their own personal winter wonderland.

Maple Sugaring: A Family Program
Where: Nissequogue River State Park
When: Sunday, January 31st
Cost: $4 per adult; $3 per child; children under 3 are FREE

Learn about the importance of maple trees on long island.  This hands-on program teaches kids how to identify and tap a maple tree.  Since this program is outdoors, it's important that parents remember to dress kids appropriately for the weather.

How will you be spending the last weekend in August?  Get involved in the last summer events on Long Island before the kids head back-to-school!  Here are a few of the fun events happening this weekend.

Weekend Events on LI:

Movies Under the Stars: Rocky
Where: Long Beach Neptune Avenue, Long Beach
When: Saturday, August 29th
Cost: Free
Enjoy the last weekend of August outside with your family!  Watch Rocky under the stars on one of the last few beautiful summer nights.

Puppet Show
Where: Eisenhower Park, 1899 Hempstead Tpke, East Meadow
When: Sunday, August 30th at 2PM
Cost: Free
Hudson Vagabond Puppets will present a puppet theater show at Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre.  This is a perfect event for young children.

Sensory Garden Sundays
Where: Planting Fields Arboretum, 1395 Planting Fields Rd, Oyster Bay
When: Sunday, August 30th at 12PM
Cost: Free Admission, $8 Parking
Stroll through the beautiful Planting Field Arboretum with an outdoor educator.  Kids have the opportunity to see, taste, touch, smell and listen in their sensory garden.  This is the last weekend that the program will be running for the summer.

It looks like we are going to have some beautiful summer weather this weekend!  Here are a few ways to take advantage of the summer before the kids head back to school.

Weekend Events:

Sayville Summerfest
Sayville Summerfest is a big street fair that is full of carnival games for kids of all ages to enjoy.  There will be live entertainment, as well as craft and retail venders.  If you happen to indulge in any street fair sweets, just remember to brush after!

When: Friday 8/7, 6pm-9pm; Saturday 8/8 and Sunday 8/89, 8am-9pm
Cost: FREE!

One-Man 'Star Wars' Show
Are your kids excited for the new Star Wars movie?  Are you?  Performer and writer Charles Ross will be recreating all the characters, music, effects and scenes from the original triology.  He even fights both sides of the battles!

Where: Guild Hall, 158 Main Street, East Hampton
When: Saturday, August 8th at 8pm
Cost: $22-$45

Martha Clara Vineyards
While visiting a winery is more of an adult activity, Martha Clara Vineyards offers a petting zoo with horse and carriage rides!  Adults get to enjoy tasting their wines, while kids get to spend time outside with their favorite animals.

When: Saturday, Sunday

Mary Poppins Performance
Here in Garden City, there will be a live performance of Mary Poppins by Plaza Theatrical Productions.

Where: Long Island Children's Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City
When: Saturday, August 8th at various times
Cost: $12 ($10 for members)

Are you ready to celebrate St. Patrick's Day?  Here are a  few family-friendly events to help you get into the spirit.

St. Patrick's Day Events:

Lucky Leprechauns

When: Saturday, 2-4pm

Where: Long Island Children's Museum, 11 Davis Ave, Garden City

Cost: Free with museum admission ($12)

At this event, kids can create leprechaun finger puppets to help bring the luck of the Irish home!

Build a Leprechaun Trap

When: Saturday and Sunday, 1-5pm

Where: Maritime Explorium, 101 E. Broadway, Port Jefferson

Cost: $5 for everyone over the age of 1

Want to catch a Leprechaun?  Kids can build a Leprechaun trap using simple design and construction.

Discover Irish Pirates

When: Saturday, 2:30-4:30

Where: The Whaling Museum & Education Center, 301 Main St., Cold Spring Harbor

Cost: $6 per adult, $5 per child

The Jolly Roger is a ship that was flown by the pirate who ruled the seven seas.  Drop in and make your own!

Take a St. Patrick's Day Walk

When:  Sunday, 10 am

Where: Mashashimuet Park, 373 Main St., Sag Harbor

Cost: Free

Take a walk through the park with a St. Patrick's Day blessing and poem.  The event is hosted by the Southampton Trails Preservation Society
