We hope that everyone is ready for this weekend's blizzard!  If your kids tend to get a little stir crazy on snow days, here are a few activities to help keep them busy through the winter storm.

Snow Day Activities:

• Build a Snow Man - What better way to enjoy a snow day than by building a snow man?  Assuming there is enough snow, try to build the biggest snow man you can!
• Make an Igloo - Another fun snow-time activity!  Just make sure that kids stay safe if they build an igloo with snow overhead.
• Make Sugar-Free Hot Chocolate - Hot chocolate is the perfect snowy day drink to warm up after a day of igloos and snowmen (and shoveling).  However, hot chocolate tends to be high in sugar!  Opt for a sugar free version or make your own healthier hot chocolate recipe.
• Make Snowflake Garlands - If your kids aren't ready to head outdoors, have them make their own snowflakes inside!  With paper and scissors, making snowflakes can be a fun snow day craft.

With the blizzard on Long Island approaching, your kids might be having the day off. A snow day means snowmen and igloos, but they can’t stay outside all day. So for when your kids are stuck in the house give them some wholesome entertainment. KludgyMom.com has some fun ideas to give you and your kids a great snow day!

Play board games! You can spend hours on games you used to play as a child. Dust off the old boards and gather the family! Or make hide and seek a family affair and top it all off with a game of Charades.

Bake anything you might have in your house. You can look up quick recipes that you already have ingredients for.

A snow day is a great time to catch up with distant relatives. You and your kids can video chat your loved ones.

Build a fort and a pillow mountain. Grab all the blankets and pillows you have and camp out in your homemade fort. You could even play games in it too!

Have a rotating party! Each family member will be assigned to a room with different activities. One room can be designated for coloring while another can become a dance club.

With a blizzard in store for the Long Island area, we’re sure many parents out there are wondering how to keep the kids busy during a snow day! We've got you covered!

There are plenty of activities you can do all day long to pass the time of snow storm Nemo! Let us know which activities you plan on doing with your children on our Facebook page, linked HERE! Also, let us know if you have any other ideas!

Baking – Pull out your cookie sheets, cupcake pans and cake pop molds and put the kids to work in the kitchen!

Movie Marathon- Let each child pick the movie of their choice and have a movie marathon! Put the popcorn in the microwave and you’re all set!

Valentine’s Day Card Making – If you have some time to get out to the store before the storm hits, pick-up your kids Valentine’s Day cards for their class and let them work on those. If you can’t get out to the store, let the kids make DIY (do it yourself) Valentine’s Day cards this year! All you need is construction paper, markers and a little creativity!

Board Game Marathon – If the movie marathon doesn't seem to interest your children, pull out all of the board games! Let each child pick their favorite game and set them up at the kitchen table!

Scavenger Hunt – Make a list of items you've hidden around the house and let the kids find them all! Have a special treat ready for the winner!
