Have you been following The World Cup?  It’s no surprise that soccer is considered the most popular sport in the world.  The World Cup is the most widely viewed sporting event in the world (even more than the Olympics)!  During this exciting, fast-paced game, it’s important to keep safety in mind.  If you children play soccer, here are a few ways to keep game time safe.

Soccer Safety Gear:
  • Soccer Cleats – The right pair of shoes will reduce your child’s risk of injury.  Make sure their cleats fit properly and are laced up tightly before each game.
  • Shin Guards – A good shin guard should end just before the knee and fit snugly around the ankle.  Have your child bring their soccer socks and cleats with them when you go to buy shin guards.  This will make sure they fit properly.
  • Mouthguard – Since soccer is a contact sport, it’s important to protect your teeth, lips, cheeks and tongue.  A mouthguard will help keep your child’s smile safe.  Contact our office for mouthguard recommendations.
Soccer safety is important.  While most injuries are minor, chipped or lost teeth do happen.  If you have any questions about how you can better protect your child’s teeth while they are playing soccer or any other sport, contact our Pediatric Dentistry of Glen Cove and Garden City!  Call 516-222-5100 to contact our Garden City office or 516-759-7000 to contact our Glen Cove office.
