Happy first day of Fall! Are you excited cool weather, sweaters, and autumn festivities?
Apple picking is a fall favorite! Not only are they the perfect way to celebrate fall, but apples are good for your teeth, too!
How are apples good for your teeth?
- They strengthen gums.
- They increase saliva production due to their high water content. This disperses the bacteria in your mouth
- They're a natural abrasive scrub, so they naturally clean your teeth while you eat them!
Since apples are festive and healthy, here are a few ways to add them to your child's diet this Fall!
Ham, Swiss & Apple Wraps
Have a hard time getting your child to eat a full apple? Add them into their lunch wraps! This is an easy way to add crisp apples to their diet.
Apple and Cheese Quesadillas
Apples offer a crisp change from your traditional quesadilla. As an added bonus, cheese contains calcium and vitamins that are good for growing teeth!
Apple Salsa
Sweet-tart apples can be served as a salsa over pork or chicken at dinnertime! They're a great way to sneak in a healthy fruit.
Of course, remember that while apples have many health benefits for tiny teeth, they are also high in sugar. We recommend avoiding apple juices and sauces. Remember to brush after eating to avoid cavities and help keep yours and your child's teeth healthy!
